Our Stylists

My name is Ildiko Gellert and welcome to my salon The Perfect Hairmony! Ever since I gave my first Barbie a buzz cut, I got passion to become a hairstylist and make people happy around me by making them look fabulous and healthy. In 1985 I graduated from the Debrecen School of Beauty and Hairstyling. I have mastered a wide range of techniques in cutting, coloring weaving, and styling. I am also a certified Keratin and hair extension professionalist. I opened several successful salons in Hungary, and after I moved to New York I started to chase my dream of opening my own parlor in the Big Apple, too. My dream became true in 2018. With my partner’s help, Tamas Bartal we created The Perfect Hairmony. I am a hard worker with the desire to make my clients feel good and confident about themselves.

I have always had a passion for seeing and spreading beauty in the world. I grew up in a small village, Apaj, near Budapest in Hungary. When I was old enough, I attended hairstyling school Kiskunlachaza, Hungary where I excelled in my studies and discovered a natural talent and affinity for styling. In 2008, I opened my first salon and became the owner and master stylist at Matrix Hajstúdió in Dömsöd, Hungary. My venture was a huge success, and in just two years my business was so popular I opened a second location. In 2010 I was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime – to style hair in New York. I worked as the master stylist at Broadway Salon in Manhattan for four years, and eventually word of my love for styling and innate talents spread.  In 2015 I found much success as a freelancer, enjoying the opportunity to work with models in fashion shows and many celebrity clients. I am fond of saying that because I loves styling so much, I have never worked a day in my life. My natural talent and zeal for making the world a more beautiful place, combined with my desire to ensure each of my clients leave my chair confident, happy, and satisfied. Today, I am thrilled to be working at my dream job as a master stylist and Salon Manager at Perfect Hairmony.

As a professional hairstylist with over 20 years of experience working in and around New York City I do my best to provide excellent hair care, and I am skilled at managing any types of hair and textures.
The most important rule is to trust your stylist who believes in the 5c’s: collaboration, consistency, customers service, convenience, and communication. A celebrity in my own right within the hair industry, I have styled for everything from Allure magazine shoots, NY Fashion week, pop up shops with BET, to reality TV-stars and Fortune 500 c-suite executives. Recently, I launched DLM hair, my own line of organic hair care products, which contains an all-natural moisturizing formula, proven to promote healthy and sustainable growth for all hair types. As a self-made entrepreneur, I understand industry trends and think about my clients first and foremost over the typically generic salon experience. Besides I am specialized in ethnic hair I am known for my dry haircuts, as well as a weave specialist on all hair types.

I have never been afraid to follow my dreams. Born in Hungary, I attended beauty school and discovered I had a talent for styling. Even while in school, I was approached to do hair for photo shoots and other projects. I worked very hard and my diligent efforts paid off – I won a scholarship to continue my education in Wales at the Yale College of Wrexham, which I immediately accepted. After completing my formal education, I made the move to New York City to pursue my love of styling and improve my craft. The city had always captivated me and I was excited at the opportunity become a part of such a diverse and exciting place. Since making the move in 2012, I have had an amazing experience. I have worked at several different salons as a stylist and colorist and have had the added pleasure of working with notable figures and celebrities. Currently, I enjoy employing my talents as a stylist at The Perfect Hairmony, where I am constantly taking on new challenges and learning new techniques.
